We stayed in The Haven Suite Cabin 14138 on Norwegian Getaway for a seven-night cruise. This cabin is located on Deck 14, port side, not too far from The Haven courtyard and lounge. Here is our review.

What is a Haven Suite on Norwegian Cruise Line?
The Haven is Norwegian Cruise Line’s ship-within-a-ship concept, offering a more private, upgraded experience on select ships. Guests staying in The Haven Suites get exclusive access to areas like:
- A private Haven restaurant
- The Haven Lounge and bar
- A private courtyard with a pool, hot tub, and sundeck
- Priority embarkation and disembarkation
- 24-hour butler service and a dedicated concierge
The Haven cabins themselves vary depending on the ship and suite type. On the Norwegian Getaway, Cabin 14138 is one of the former Spa Suites that now falls under The Haven category. It’s a slightly (not by much) more affordable way to stay with Haven perks.
Our Stay in Haven Suite 14138 on Norwegian Getaway
We sailed on Norwegian Getaway in The Haven for the first time back in 2016, after winning an upgrade. That cruise landed us in a Penthouse Suite on Deck 15, which set the bar pretty high.
For our recent return, we told our PCC to place us in the cheapest available Haven cabin that was still close to The Haven proper. That’s how we ended up in Cabin 14138, one of the former Spa Suites located on Deck 14, port side—conveniently located near both The Haven complex and the spa.
Our favorite part about this cabin was the space, the Nespresso machine, our butler and cabin attendant, as well as the Haven perks that came along with it.

While I’m going to point out a few things here and there, that doesn’t mean we weren’t comfortable. We absolutely were. This suite worked well for our seven-day cruise, and it had plenty of room to spread out, far more than we have in our small home back home.

The cabin featured a king-sized bed, a sofa, a large vanity/desk area, and ample closet and drawer space for two people. Near the balcony, there was a small table with a single chair. When we ordered room service, the butler would move the table closer to the sofa to make it easier to eat. It worked well enough, but it felt more like an extra piece of furniture than something truly designed for in-room dining.
Across from the bed, at the far end of the vanity area, was a dedicated coffee station with a Nespresso machine, espresso and coffee cups, and a mini fridge tucked underneath. My husband loved this setup as he’s a caffeine addict and made good use of it every day.
The king bed was definitely more comfortable than what we’ve had in standard cabins. That said, by the time we sailed, it felt like the mattress and sheets were due for an update—not awful, just a bit worn.
The vanity area was sleek and offered a good amount of storage. The TV was large, with a solid selection of on-demand movies available at no extra charge.
And then there was the corner jacuzzi tub by the window—a holdover from when this was a Spa Suite. It looked nice at first, but it never worked properly. There’s also a column right next to it that felt oddly placed. It didn’t get in the way exactly, but it did make the layout feel slightly awkward.
Not the Bathroom You’d Expect in The Haven
When you book a Haven suite, you expect the bathroom to feel a little more refined. This one didn’t quite meet that bar. It had a double sink, a full-size shower, and enough space to move around, but the overall look and feel were underwhelming.
The layout and size reminded us of a Getaway mini-suite bathroom—maybe just a bit larger—but this one felt duller in comparison. The finishes lacked warmth, and the lighting didn’t help. It just didn’t have that polished Haven touch.
We kept thinking back to the Penthouse Suite we stayed in back in 2016, which had a much nicer bathroom with a more upscale, modern vibe. That’s more of what we’d expected here.
The L’Occitane products were a nice detail, but they weren’t enough to elevate the space.
A Wide but Shallow Balcony
The balcony was wide, which was great, but it was also very shallow—you couldn’t really stretch your legs out unless you were facing the other chair. There were two comfy chairs and a small round table, which made it a nice spot for coffee and pastries in the morning or a cocktail at sunset.
That said, the chairs couldn’t really be turned to face the ocean comfortably, and the lack of depth made it feel a bit cramped. I’m not very tall, and I even found it tight when trying to stretch out. Still, this balcony was bigger than a standard balcony cabin, which we appreciated. And it’s always nice to have a private outdoor space to step into for some fresh air.
Ample Storage
There was plenty of storage throughout the cabin, more than enough for two people. Though a few drawers and cabinets didn’t close quite right, and we were always fighting with them.

What We Loved (and What We Didn’t) of NCL Getaway Haven Suite 14138
What we liked:
️ Close to The Haven lounge, courtyard, and restaurant
️ Comfortable king-size bed
️ Nespresso machine restocked daily
️ Spacious layout with plenty of storage
️ L’Occitane amenities in the bathroom
️ Enough US outlets (plus one European) for charging devices
️ Great service from our butler and cabin attendant
What could be better:
️ The Jacuzzi tub didn’t work properly
️ Bathroom felt dull, more like a mini-suite than a Haven suite
️ Balcony was wide but shallow — not much legroom
️ Some drawers and cabinets didn’t close properly
️ No USB ports — bring a hub or multi-plug
Would we stay in this cabin again?
Yes—for the space, the Haven perks, and if the price is right, it worked well. But if the cost to upgrade to a Courtyard Haven Penthouse Suite isn’t much more, we’d go for that instead. It just feels more like what The Haven is meant to be.
