Chora, the capital of the Greek island of Andros, is one of those towns where meals are to be savoured. Restaurants here are unhurried and the portions are generous.
I spent two weeks exploring all Andros has to offer and, of course, a large part of my time was spent eating in restaurants in Chora. Having visited ten Greek islands, I had high expectations of the food on Chora and it didn’t disappoint.
The main street is lined with tavernas, cafés and open-until-late spots.
Down by the seafront you’ll find another group of seafood restaurants with tables overlooking the water. Although the dining options in Chora aren’t huge, what Chora lacks in size, it makes up for in wonderful evening atmosphere.
I ate at most of the places in the list below, from quick gyros to romantic terraces. I’ve also added a couple of restaurants in Chora that come highly recommended by locals and travellers. Together these make up my nine top places to eat in Chora, Andros.
